Postal vote controversy: Police association involved, says DGP’s report
Thiruvananthapuram: State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Teeka Ram Meena has accepted the primary investigation report by state police chief Lokanath Behera in connection with the controversy over the postal ballot in police department.
Meena accepted Behera’s report which stated the police association was involved in the postal ballot fraud. The CEO directed the DGP to provide a detailed report by May 15. Meena has also directed Behera to investigate the extent of police association’s involvement in the issue.
The investigation will also find out if the district nodal officers of police failed to adhere to the circular issued by the police chief.
The report also directs to take action against police officer Vaishakhan, who mentioned about the postal ballot issue. Presently, Vaishakhan has been posted at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
The report also seeks action against police officers Arun Mohan, Ratheesh, Rajesh Kumar and Manikkuttan.
