Police postal ballot controversy: DGP orders crime branch investigation
Thiruvananthapuram: The crime branch has been directed to investigate the irregularities in the police department postal ballot. State police chief Loknath Behera issued the order to the crime branch chief.
The DGP has also directed to take action against police officers involved in the case as soon as an FIR is registered. The DGP ordered for the crime branch inquiry after the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Teeka Ram Meena demanded a detailed probe in the issue.
The DGP, in his report submitted to the CEO on Wednesday, had stated that preliminary investigation revealed that the police association was involved in the issue. Meena had accepted this report.
The DGP had demanded action against policeman Vaishakhan and investigation against five other officers.
