Thrissur: Congress leader V Muraleedharan alleged that Pinarayi Vijayan is putting in efforts to become the last CM from the CPM. Pinarayi will quit only after uprooting the party. There was a negative sentiment against state and central governments among the people. Also the people were against the state government in the Sabarimala issue, he said.
“It is up to Pinarayi to decide on his resignation. A K Antony had quit as CM, when Congress failed to get at least one seat. That was a democratic model. Pinarayi can follow the model or reject it. I don’t expect him to follow Antony, as he is not familiar with such manners,” said Muraleedharan.
Pinarayi has decided that he will be the last CM from CPM. It can’t be changed by any one. CPM has only Kerala left with them. Pinarayi will quit only after uprooting it, he added.
Muraleedharan further said that strong structural foundation is required in Congress to maintain the sentiments sprang up during the polls. For that there is a need for restructuring of Congress party.
