Man destroys voting machine in Kozhikode
Kozhikode: A person who came to cast vote at the Edakkad Union L P School polling booth in Kozhikode district destroyed the voting machine and VVPAT machine here. The incident occurred at the 13 number booth at the school at around 6 pm when more than 500 persons were still waiting in the queue to cast vote.
The offender has been identified as Pramod, son of Andikutty in Kalappuram Veedu in Edakkad.
Pramod vandalized the machine after he went into the booth, without any provocation. With this voting was completely ceased here. Kozhikode sub collector Bhuvaneswari and other officials reached the venue.
The police deployed at the booth, nabbed him and shifted to the police station.
Election officials at the station said that after technical officers inspect the destroyed machine, new machine will be brought here and voting will continue.
As per latest reports, voting has resumed here.
Meanwhile, there is widespread allegations that Pramod is a Maoist sympathizer.
