LDF strongholds collapse; UDF wave in Kerala; Rahul Gandhi has highest lead
Thiruvananthapuram: A UDF wave has been created in entire Kerala breaking all predictions regarding the results. When about 8 percent votes were counted, most of the UDF candidates have attained a majority of over 10,000 votes.
AICC president Rahul Gandhi has the highest lead in the state. When 26 percent of votes counted the Congress chief has gained a lead of 116921 votes over LDF candidate P. P. Suneer.
NDA candidate K. Surendran is trailing behind in Pathanamthitta, where BJP raised Sabarimala issue as the trump card in campaign. However, UDF candidate Shashi Tharoor and NDA candidate Kummanam Rajasekharan are on a neck and neck fight in Thiruvananthapuram.
LDF suffered setback in Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Chalakudy constituencies which were devastated in the flood havoc. Palakkad constituency where LDF was at full confidence of victory witnessed an unexpected change. UDF candidate V. K. Sreekandan is leading in Palakkad with a huge margin of over 29,000 votes.
LDF and UDF has only slight difference of lead in Alappuzha, Mavelikkara and Vadakara constituencies. The stunning lead of UDF resulted from the concentration of minority votes in UDF.
