Chance of violence: Section 144 imposed in two places in Kasaragod
Thiruvananthapuram: The police have beefed up security all over the state in view of the conflicts on the vote counting day. Kasaragod collector Dr. D. Sajith Babu imposed Section 144 in 500m area of Kalliyod and Periya towns in the district. The collector informed that the prohibitory orders will exist from 8 am on Thursday to 8 pm on Friday.
The security arrangements have been made according to the report submitted by the State Intelligence wing one week ago. Clear clues have been given on the trouble prone areas where the police will concentrate their attention.
A total of 22640 police officers are deployed for the counting of votes under the supervision of district police chiefs. 111 DYSPs, 395 inspectors, 2632 Sis and ASIs are deployed. Also 1344 officer from the Central Armed Police are deployed for the security duties. Policemen from all districts and special units are assigned duty.
Security have been tightened in places where the Intelligence has noted to be trouble torn areas. Special attention has been given for Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Transportation facilities are arranged for the police officials to reach anywhere. The district police chiefs have granted permission to hire vehicles if necessary.
