Bribery video: Complaint lodged with EC against MK Raghavan
Kozhikode: A complaint has been lodged with the Election Commission against UDF candidate in Kozhikode constituency for Lok Sabha election, MK Raghavan. DYFI leader Muhammad Riyas has filed the complaint in connection with the sting operation video that had surfaced in which Raghavan was seen allegedly demanding money for election campaign. It is demanded in the complaint to disqualify Raghavan and probe on breach of model code of conduct.
TV9 had released a video showing Raghavan seeking Rs 5 crore from them after they approached him posing as a private party planning to build a five-star hotel in Kozhikode. The sitting Lok Sabha MP posted a live video on his Facebook page in response to the sting operation video.
In the scrutiny conducted on Friday, EC had accepted Raghavan’s nomination. The complaint was filed after this. At present, the EC probe on a complaint filed by Raghavan is in progress on the same incident.
Riyas also demanded in the complaint, to investigate Raghavan’s financial dealings.
Congress had alleged that CPM is behind the bribery video controversy. It is reported that the complaint is filed to resist the allegation.
