BJP will not use Sabarimala issue during bypoll campaign
Thiruvananthapuram: Following the setback in Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has decided not to use Sabarimala women entry issue while campaigning for the assembly polls in Kerala.
In Vattiyurkkavu, the assembly constituency where the saffron party has high hopes of victory, the focus will be on development, said the BJP district leadership.
Speaking to Mathrubhumi News, BJP Thiruvananthapuram district president Adv. S Suresh Kumar said that development models had high success rate during polls.
By using Sabarimala issue during campaigns for the LS polls, polarisation of minority votes acted against the BJP. Based on this evaluation, the party has now decided to change its tactic for the assembly polls.
BJP tried to present Kummanam Rajasekharan as a representative of development. But it was not effective because of consolidation of minority votes due to the Sabarimala issue. Moreover, the part leadership believes that it has gained the maximum number of votes from Thiruvananthapuram.
It is in this situation that the saffron party is gearing up to change its tactic for the assembly polls.
