Thiruvananthapuram: A non-bailable offence charge has been registered against BJP state president P. S. Sreedharan Pillai for making remarks that hurts religious sentiments. Attingal police charged the case on the complaint filed by V. Sivankutty indicating that he made an anti-Muslim remark.
The case has been registered against Sreedharan Pillai for making a statement that creates religious intolerance and tensions. Further actions will be taken after conducting a detailed investigation. The controversial remark was made during a programme at Attingal.
Sreedharan Pillai criticised that Rahul Gandhi, Sitaram Yechury and Pinarayi Vijayan asked the Indian Army about the number and religion of the terrorists killed in Balakot attack. Sreedharan Pillai had said during the speech that Muslims have certain signs which can be identified by removing their clothes.
The State Chief Electoral Officer had submitted a report to the Election Commission indicating that the speech by Sreedharan Pillai had violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
