Kannur: UDF candidate in Kannur K Sudhakaran opined that ‘Chowkidar Chor Hein’ should be said to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who was unable to check fake votes in his own constituency. Widespread atrocities took place in the district. But these actions won’t scare our voters, he said.
“Pinarayi Vijayan is the Chief Minister. Who is the ‘Chor’ (thief) when he is unable to protect democracy in his own booth? Shouldn’t we say ‘Chowkidar Chor Hein’?”
Congress offices were vandalised in many areas. ‘Naykurana podi’ (Mucuna Pruriens powder) was thrown at booth agents. Around 30 officials were not allowed to enter polling booths and were beaten up. Violent situations were created. Many Congress workers were attacked and hospitalised, he added.
Details of the violence is being collected. Legal procedures will be adapted against those who unleashed atrocities and fake votes.
Despite these unfavourable situations, many, including women and those belonging to minorities, have cast vote enthusiastically.
