P Jayarajan likely to contest Assembly elections
Kannur: The CPM is planning to field Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan, an accused in Kathirur Manoj murder case, in the Assembly elections. The plan is to field him in a safe constituency in Kannur.
Jayarajan had been remanded in connection with the murder case. The Thalassery Sessions Court granted him bail on Wednesday on conditions that he could not go to Kannur for two months or influence witnesses. The party hopes that if he contests elections, he can enter Kannur district and actively take part in election-related works.
The party had fielded Karayi Rajan and Chandrasekharan, accused in the Fasal murder case, in the local body polls. They were also made Kannur district panchayat president and Thalassery municipal chairman, respectively. However, they had to resign from the posts as they could not enter the district and fulfil their official responsibilities.
