Suvarna Jubilee Merit Scholarship: Apply by Oct 31
Thiruvananthapuram: The Director of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala, has invited applications from those belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL), for the Kerala State Suvarna Jubilee Merit Scholarship for 2017.
Applicants should be first year students in undergraduate or postgraduate courses during 2017-18, in Government/aided Arts and Science Colleges or University Department and should have scored at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination. Applicant should be belonging to the BPL category.
Applicant should have an account in his/her name in a bank having an IFS Code.
While 10 percent of the scholarship will be allotted to SC/ST categories, 10 are set apart for Persons with Disabilities. Five scholarships will be given to those who have excelled in arts/sports at the national level.
Those in receipt of any other scholarship/stipend are not eligible for this scholarship. However, the lump sum grant received by SC/ST students is exempted from this clause.
The scholarship amount would be Rs.10000 per annum.
Applications can be submitted online at www.dcescholarship.kerala.gov.in, latest by 31.10.2017, at the link, ‘Suvarna Jubilee Scholarship (SJMS)’ and clicking on the ‘Apply Online’ link. If applicant has already registered at this link while applying for other scholarships, applicant can proceed at the ‘Candidate login’ link and proceed. If not, applicant should click on ‘New Registration’ and proceed. After submitting the application on providing the details, applicant should click on ‘View/Print Application’ and take the printout of the application.
The printout of the applications along with the documents specified should be submitted to the Head of the Institution where the applicant is studying, latest by 7.11.2017.
The documents to be submitted to the Institution along with the printout of the application are the following:
- Registration printout with the photograph of the applicant taken within 6 months of applying, affixed on it (this has to be attested by the Head of the Institution)
- Copy of Mark list of SSLC, attested by a Gazetted officer
- Copy of the first page of the Bank Pass book of the Account in the name of the Applicant showing the name of the Applicant, Account Number, Branch Code, Branch Address etc, attested
- Nativity Certificate
- Certificate from the Head of the Local Authority to the effect that the applicant belongs to the BPL family
- Income Certificate
- Mark list of the Qualifying examination, attested
- Community Certificate in case of SC/ST applicants
- Certificates of competence in Arts/Sports in support of the claim under this category, attested
- Disability Certificate in case of PwD applicants, attested by a Gazetted Officer
- Copy of the Aadhaar Card
The registration printout and the documents submitted by the students should be verified (Verification) by the Institution Head or the person authorised by the Institution. After scrutiny of the applications, the admissible applications must be approved (Approval) by the Head of the Institution, online.
Online verification and approval has to be completed by the Head of the Institution latest by 15.11.2017.
The applications and documents must be retained in the institution and must be submitted for verification by the Inspection team of the Directorate of Collegiate Education, when demanded.
Applications can also be submitted till 31.10.2017 at www.dcescholarship.kerala.gov.in, for renewal of the Suvarna Jubilee Merit Scholarship received by students during 2015-16 and 2016-17 and studying in second/Third year of UG Courses and Second year of PG Courses. They should have secured 50% marks in the examination of the previous academic year 2016-17. If the mark list of the qualifying examination has not been received so far, application for renewal can be submitted along with an undertaking in the prescribed format, that the amount of scholarship received will be refunded in case the applicant does not receive 50% marks in the examination of the previous year when results are published. The undertaking along with the mark sheet received when the results are published should be sent to the Special Officer for Scholarships, Office of the Director of Collegiate Education, Vikas Bhavan, Thriuvananthapuram-695033.
