Scholarships for forward communities for postgraduate courses
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Welfare Corporation for Forward Castes has invited applications from economically backward students of forward communities in the state, studying for postgraduate degree courses, for the award of Vidya Samunnithi Scholarships for 2017-18.
The total number of Scholarships under this scheme will be 3250 of which, 1250 Scholarships for 2017-18 carrying an amount of Rs 8000 will be for professional courses and 2000, carrying an amount of Rs.6000 will be for non-professional courses for 2017-18.
Applicants should be from a caste in Kerala State, not having any reservation benefits and should be studying in a Government/Aided/Self-financing Research and Scientific Institutions recognized by the Universities in Kerala or in a Central University or in a course for which admission is based on a National Level entrance Examination.
Applicant should have passed the bachelors course with the marks specified, depending on the stream. Those from Science streams should have passed the Degree course with minimum of 60% marks/equivalent Grade. It will be 55%/equivalent Grade for those who have taken their Degree under Arts & Commerce streams, Law & Management streams and Medical & Technical streams. Applicant should not be over 35 years of age at the time of submission of application.
The annual family income of the applicants from all sources should not exceed Rs 2 lakh. Applicant should be having an account in any branch of a nationalised or scheduled bank. Scholarship, if sanctioned, will be transferred to this account only.
Those in receipt of other scholarships or any stipend from the State/Central Government are not eligible for this scholarship.
Application for scholarship has to be submitted online at www.kswcfc.org latest by 15.11.2017. Before applying, applicant should do one-time registration in the ‘Data Bank’ at www.kswcfc.org. Application for the scholarship has to be submitted using the Registration Number received after the registration. Those who have already completed the Data Bank Registration in previous years can apply for the Scholarship, using the Registration number received then.
Applicants will be required to upload the following documents during online submission of application (i) Certificate in the prescribed format available in the website, from the Head of the Institution where the applicant is studying (ii) Income Certificate issued by the Village Officer (iii) Degree Certificate/Professional Certificate (iv) Copy of the first page of the Bank passbook showing the Account Number, Branch etc (v) Copy of the Aadhar Card. These documents have to be scanned and uploaded along with the application.
Provision will be there to correct the information submitted in the application, till the last date of submission of applications.
Printout of the application and copies of the documents scanned and uploaded need not be forwarded to the KSFCWC.
Since there is no provision for the renewal of scholarships awarded in a year, those who have received the scholarship earlier and wish to get the scholarship again this year, have to apply afresh this year.
Scholarships will be awarded subject to the release of funds from the Government. Priority will be given to those with low income while preparing the select list for awarding scholarships.
