Research Fellowship under Ministry of Defence: Apply by December 10
The Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has invited applications for the award of two Research Fellowships for research in Indian Military History.
The Fellowship is tenable for period of two years. The term of a Fellow may be extended by one year subject to the satisfactory progress of the fellow. The fellowship can be terminated earlier by the Ministry of Defence if it is found that the progress of the work is unsatisfactory.
The value of the Fellowship is 31,000/- per month with an annual grant of 10,000/- for approved contingent expenditure including TA/DA. The Research Fellows shall have to execute a bond for Rs. 7,64,000/-
The Fellows will generally work in Delhi and shall be attached to the History Division, Ministry of Defence for the administration purpose. If the research work requires, they may also be sent to any place in India and during such temporary duty, will be eligible to get the same TA and DA that is given to Government employees drawing similar pay.
The Fellow will devote his/her whole time to the approved research work and shall not accept or hold any appointment, paid or otherwise, till he/she has relinquished the fellowship.
The Fellow will present a comprehensive report to Director, History Division on the work done before the expiry of the Fellowship for the information of the Ministry of Defence. (If his/her thesis has been approved for award of the Ph. D Degree, the Research Fellow, may make a request to Director, History Division for the publication of his thesis under the auspices of the History Division.)
The Fellow can be granted leave upto a maximum of 30 days in a year, apart from the closed holidays of the Govt. of India. In case of illness, special medical leave without the Fellowship stipend can also be granted at the discretion of the Government.
A Fellow will not be permitted without reasonable grounds to resign his Fellowship. In case the Fellow discontinues the approved research programme, the Government may ask the Fellow to refund the amount paid to him/her as stipend. The cases for the refund will be referred by the Director, History Division, to the Ministry of Defence to decide the amount of refund. However, each case will be reviewed on its merits.
Before joining the Fellowship the Fellow shall have to execute a bond in prescribed form.
Eligibility: Applicants should be below 30 years of age with a first or high second class MA /M.Sc. degree in History /Defence Studies/ Military Science from a recognised Indian University and should also have registered himself/ herself for M.Phil or Ph.D with a recognised University.

Filled application for Fellowship should reach the ‘Director, History Division, Ministry of Defence, West Block-VIII, Wing - 1, RK Puram, New Delhi-110066’, within 45 days from the date of publication of the advertisement (published on 26.10.2019).
Those called for interview will be paid single 2nd class railway fare or actual expenses, whichever is lower from their home stations to Delhi and back by the shortest route. No travelling allowance will be admissible to a selected candidate travelling to Delhi to join the Fellowship.
