Pragati and Saksham Scholarships by AICTE; Apply by October 8
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a statutory body of the Govt. of India; Nelson Mandela Marg, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi-110070; has invited applications for Pragati Scholarship for Girls and Saksham Scholarship for Differently Abled Students for 2019-20 admissions, from students admitted for Diploma/Undergraduate Degree Level Programmes/Courses in AICTE Approved Institutions.
Total Number of Scholarships to be awarded under the Pragati scheme is 4000 of which, 2000 each would be for Degree and Diploma. Under the Saksham Scheme, a total of 100 scholarships will be awarded with 500 each for Degree and Diploma. The Scholarships for Degree and Diploma are transferable in event of non-availability of eligible applicant in any of the Degree/Diploma level Programme.
Eligibility: Applicant should be admitted in first year during the academic year 2019-20 in AICTE approved technical Institutions for Diploma / UG Degree level programmes. Those undergoing Dual degree/Integrated degree Programmes and Lateral entry students in UG Degree/Diploma courses are not eligible. Applicants for Pragati scholarship should be girls. In case of Saksham, applicant should be a specially-abled student, having disability of not less than 40%. One can apply only for one of the two scholarships.
Those applying for Pragati Scholarship should be admitted through centralized admission process, whereas the condition of centralized admission process is not applicable under Saksham Scheme.
The annual family income of the applicant should not be more than Rs.8 lakh during the preceding financial year. In case of married girl, the income of parents/in-laws, whichever is higher will be considered. Two girl children per family are eligible for the scholarships.
Amount of scholarship: Tuition Fee of Rs. 30,000/- or at actual, whichever is less and Rs.2000/- per month for 10 months as incidentals charges each year. In case of Tuition fee waiver/reimbursement, Students are eligible to get an amount of Rs. 30,000/- for the purchase of Books/Equipment/Softwares/ Laptop/Desktop/Vehicle/Fee paid towards competitive examination applications forms/exam.
Selection of candidate will be made on merit on the basis of qualifying examination. Reservation will be as follows: 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and 27% for OBC candidate/applicant.
Document to be submitted include (i) Mark Sheet of standard Xth /XIIth / others as applicable (ii) Annual family Income Certificate for the preceding financial year in the prescribed format issued by a revenue officer not below the rank of Tahsildar (iii) Admission letter issued by Directorate of Technical Education for the admission in Diploma/Degree course (iv) Certificate issued by the Director/Principal/ Head of the Institute (v) Tuition fee receipt (vi) AADHAR seeded Bank Pass Book in the name of the student indicating Account number, IFSC code and Photograph (vii) Caste Certificate for SC/ST/OBC category (viii) AADHAR Card (ix) Declaration by parents duly signed stating that the information provided by their child is correct and will refund Scholarship amount, if found false at any stage (x) Disability certificate issued by Competent Authority (for Saksham).
Applications are to be submitted online through the scholarship link at https://www.aicte-india.org/schemes/students-development-schemes, latest by 8 October 2019.
Those students who are already drawing scholarship are required to apply for renewal as follows. UG/Diploma: 2018-19: 2nd year (Renewal); 2017-18 3rd year (Renewal). For 2016-17, renewal is only for UG- 4th year (Renewal)
