Applications have been invited by the Backward Classes Development Department, Kerala, from OBC students undergoing higher study courses at National Institutions, for the award of Post Metric Scholarships under 100% Central Assistance.
Applicant should be belonging to Other Backward Communities in the state of Kerala. Those belonging to Other eligible Communities (OEC) and those students receiving financial assistance equivalent to that given to OEC students are not eligible for the Scholarship as they are getting Educational assistance from the Scheduled Caste Development Department. The list of Communities eligible to apply is given in the detailed notification available at https://bcdd.kerala.gov.in.
Annual family income of the applicant should not exceed Rs.1.5 lakh.
Applicant should be undergoing an Under Graduate or Post Graduate course of study outside the state of Kerala in institutions of National Importance such as Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indian Institute of Science (IISC) etc. The admission to such institutions should have been based on National level selection process. Admission should be in Merit/reservation. The list of courses eligible to be covered under the scheme as per Government of India directions is given in the Notification. Those studying in Kerala are not eligible for applying for the scholarships.
Those getting Scholarship/stipend/educational concession under any other scheme are not eligible for benefits under this scheme. Students belonging to minority communities who have applied for scholarships through the Director of Collegiate Education are not eligible to apply.
More than two boys of a family will not be given the scholarship.
Those who have completed one professional course and are admitted into another professional course which is not the higher level course related to that professional course will not be eligible for the scholarship.
In case of those studying for Medical Post Graduate Courses, they will be given the scholarship only if they do not receive practicing allowance.

The documents to be submitted along with the filled application include (i) Community Certificate and Income Certificate from the Village Officer (ii) Detailed Fee structure of the Courses (Refundable/ No refundable to be shown separately) certified by the Head of the Institution (iii) Bonafide Certificate in the format in the Application form (iv) Allotment memo (v) Fee Receipt (vi) Hostel Certificate (vii) First page of the active Bank Account Pass Book in the name of the applicant, attested (viii) Photo identity card of the applicant.
The filled application along with the necessary documents stipulated has to be submitted to the Regional Deputy Director of the BCDD, to reach latest by 21.8.2019, in hand or by Registered/Speed/Ordinary post. Applicants from Trivandrum to Ernakulam districts should submit the application to ‘Regional Deputy Director, Backward Classes Development Department, Second floor, Civil Station, Kakkanad, Ernakulam- 682030’. Applicants from Thrissur to Kasaragod Districts, should send the application to ‘Regional Deputy Director, Backward Classes Development Department, Civil station, Kozhikode-673020’.
Application and documents, tied together, should be placed in a cover of size 32 cm x 25 cm with the words, ‘Application for OBC Postmatric Scholarship’ super-scribed on it.
The application and documents will be verified at the Regional Deputy Director Office as per the Guidelines issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt of India. The scholarship amount will be transferred to the bank Account of those becoming eligible for the scholarship. The scholarship will be given only for the current year and not for the previous years.
Those who have become eligible for the scholarship in previous years, need to submit only the renewal application along with the course fee structure attested by the Head of the Institution.
