Ministry of Human Resource Development internships: Apply by November 10
Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Department of Higher Education, Room No.235 C Wing, Shastri Bhavan, Dr. R. P. Marg, New Delhi, has invited applications under the MHRD Internship Scheme-2019 for Indian nationals/ OCI card holders pursuing Graduation/ Integrated PG studies in recognized Universities/Institutions within India or abroad.
The Scheme aims to allow young students to be associated with the Ministry in formulation of policies, implementation of projects and various initiatives in Education Sector for mutual benefits. It is also expected to benefit the interns by getting exposure to Government functioning and Policy issues in Human Resource Development in Government of India and contribute to Policy formulation by generating policy inputs such an empirical analysis, briefing, reports, policy papers etc; and also benefit the Ministry from the additional resources in the form of young talent through which their news ideas may add to the policy formulation base. The internship is neither a job nor any assurance for any job in Ministry of HRD or any institution/body under its control.
Eligibility: Applicant should be a citizen of India or OCI card holder and should be pursuing Graduation/Integrated UG/PG programme in Education, Social Sciences, Science, Humanities, Management, Engineering, ICT, Law from any recognized University/Institution within India or abroad. Those pursuing three/four year programme should have at least completed two years (four semesters) of course and those pursuing five year integrated programme should have completed three years (six semesters).
Those who are completing their Graduation/integrated PG programme in November/December 2019 can also apply for internship starting from November/December 2019. But these students cannot apply for internship starting in the next cycle of April/ May 2020.
Those completing their Graduation/ Integrated PG programme in April/May 2020 can also apply for internship starting from April/May 2020, but these students cannot apply for internship starting in the next cycle of November/December 2020. This programme is not open to PG or higher level students.
Applicant should be from Institutions of National Importance/ Institution of eminence or from Technical/ Management institutions in the top 50 in NIRF ranking 2019 or from Law institutions in the top 10 law institutions falling within NIRF ranking 2019 or from Universities in the top 50 institutions of University Ranking in NIRF ranking 2019. International Applicants must be from International Institutions of eminence figuring in QS top 100 for 2019.
The interns would be expected to supplement the process of policy analysis within the Ministry through desirable empirical collection and collation of in-house and other information.
Duration: Internship shall be offered for period ranging from two months and extendable up to six months, if required, in individual cases.
There shall be 2 induction of internship (a) During November/December (b) During April-May
Number of Interns: Maximum of 15 slots shall be available for offer to internship.
Stipend: Token stipend @ Rs. 10,000/- per month shall be paid to an intern after successful completion of internship.
Certificate: A certificate shall be issued to an intern on successful completion of his/her internship by respective bureau on the basis of recommendation of the concerned Bureau Head.
Interns shall be provided with a minimum support-office space with intercom telephone, Internet and stationery items. They will have to bring their own laptops.
Attachment: Interns shall be attached in different Bureaus of the Ministry, taking into account, as far as possible, the domain/area of interest expressed by them. However, in certain cases, it may not be possible to attach them as per their choice. In such cases, decision of MHRD shall be final. Bureau Head concerned will allocate the exact topic for study in domain area of interest.
Submission of report: Intern shall be required to submit a brief paper/report at the end of their assignment to the concerned Bureau Head about their learning experience.
Declaration of Secrecy: Internship shall be required to furnish to the Ministry a declaration of secrecy before the commencement of the internship.
Termination of Internship: Ministry may instruct an intern to terminate the programme at any time, as Ministry deems fit, without assigning any reason. Also, an intern can also leave the programme, is she/he so desired, giving prior notice of 7 working days to the concerned Bureau Head. No certificate shall be awarded to such an Intern and no stipend shall be paid.
