KSCSTE fellowships for research: apply by October 31
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Committee on Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) has invited applications under the KSCSTE Fellowship Programme for Ph.D work.
The scheme aims to promote and support M.Sc./M.Tech degree holders from Universities in Kerala in Ph. D. work, provide research training and to develop careers as scientists, to motivate fellows in science, impart the skills needed for them to become lifelong learners to develop leadership skills, and work effectively.
Subjects: Research Fellowships are offered in (i) Mathematical Sciences (ii) Life Sciences (iii) Physical Sciences (iv) Chemical Sciences (v) Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences (vi) Engineering Sciences and (vii) Environmental Sciences.
Eligibility: Applicant should have secured MSc / M-Tech degree marks from any of the Universities in Kerala, in any of the subjects listed above in 2017 or in the two previous years, securing a minimum of 70.00% marks. Applicant should not be more than 35 years as on 1st January 2018.
Fellowship: The fellowship carries a monthly stipend of Rs 20,000 in the first two years and Rs. 25,000 per month in the third year. Additionally there is an annual contingency grant of Rs. 20,000 and HRA (10% of the fellowship amount).
Duration: The period of fellowship shall be for a period not exceeding three years.
Mode of Selection: Selection will be based on an online test followed by an interview. The online examination will be conducted in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode on December 10, 2017 (Sunday). The entrance examination carries two papers. Paper I is common for all candidates and Paper II is in one of the 7 subject areas chosen by the candidate. Those shortlisted based on the marks obtained in the entrance examination as per the cut off marks recommended by the KSCSTE Research Fellowship Committee for each of the subject area, will be called for an interview. The list of shortlisted candidates will be published in KSCSTE website and the shortlisted candidates will be notified via E-mail for attending the interview to be held at KSCSTE, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram.
Application: Applications can be submitted online at http://www.scigate.kerala.gov.in/fellowship/ following the instructions there. New applicants’ haves to first register at the site. Before proceeding to the online submission, applicants should keep softcopies of (i) passport size photo (ii) MSc./ M.Tech Certificate (iii) M.Sc/M.Tech Mark list (iv) Certificate to prove age/DOB (10th or 12th certificate/Birth certificate), for uploading, with the total size of all the uploads documents together, not exceeding 5MB. Applicants have to mark their choice of centres during the online registration process.
The PDF of the application form generated at the end of the submission should be printed, duly signed and sent to ‘The Director, Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), Sasthra Bhavan, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala 695004’ in an envelope super scribed ‘Application for KSCSTE Research Fellowship 2017’, to reach latest by 10th November 2017.
The address of the online examination centre allotted to a candidate will be mentioned in the admit card, which can be generated online. The candidates are requested to carry the print out of admit cards and present them at the online examination centre allotted to them.
