ScholarshipCentral Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited applications for the CBSE Merit Scholarship for single girl child for studies in Plus 2 stage.

The objective of the scheme is to provide scholarships to meritorious Single Girl Students, who are the only child of their parents; and have passed the CBSE Class X Examination with 60% or more marks in 2018 and are continuing their further school education of Class XI and XII in CBSE schools.

The scheme is aimed to recognize the efforts of the parents in promoting education among girls and to provide encouragement to meritorious students. All children born together are Single Girl Child of their parents.

The number of scholarships for a particular year shall be variable and will be awarded to all such ‘Single Girl Students’, who have secured 60% or more marks in the CBSE Class X Examination in that year. The scholarship shall be given on the basis of merit of the result of CBSE Class X Examination.

Eligibility: Applicants should be Indian National. Applicant should be ‘Single Girl’ Student, who is the only child of their parents, should have secured 60% or more marks in CBSE Class X Examination in 2018 and should be studying in Class XI in a school affiliated with CBSE. The tuition fee must not be more than Rs. 1,500/- p.m. during the academic year. In the next two years, the total enhancement in tuition fee shall not be more than 10% of the tuition fee charged now. NRI applicants of the Board are also eligible for the award. The tuition fee for NRIs can be up to a maximum of Rs. 6,000/- per month.

Rate of Scholarship: The rate of scholarship will be Rs.500/- per month. Payment will be made through ECS/NEFT.

Renewal: A Scholarship awarded under the scheme will be paid for a maximum period of two years. It will be renewed for a period of one year on successful completion of class XI. Renewal will be subject to promotion to the next class securing 50% or more marks in aggregate in the examination that determines her promotion to next class. Good conduct and regularity in attendance are required for continuance of scholarship.

The student must continue her school studies in Class XI and XII in school as stated here. A Scholar availing scholarship can enjoy other concession(s) given by the school in which she is studying or other organization(s).

In cases a scholar gives up the chosen course of study before its completion or changes the school or course of study, the renewal/ continuation of the scholarship, shall be subject to prior approval of the Board. A Scholarship once cancelled shall not be renewed under any circumstances.

Application: Application can be submitted latest by 5th October 2018 at  http://59.179.16.89/cbse/2018/sgcx/sgcxForm1.aspx. Applicant should enter her roll number and Date of Birth (as printed on the class X grade sheet) in order to submit the online application form and enter all particulars carefully and submit the form. Applicant should note down the Registration Number shown on the page. This has to be used while uploading documents and also for all other future communications. Applicant should print the undertaking as provided in the ‘Guidelines Document’, fill it, paste the photograph and get it attested from school. Applicant should also prepare affidavit, as per format provided in the ‘Guidelines Document’. Original Affidavit should be duly attested by the First Class Judicial Magistrate/ SDM/ Executive Magistrate/Notary as per prescribed format available on the Board’s website. These 2 documents (Affidavit and Undertaking) are to be scanned, and a pdf file of maximum 1MB size created, containing all the pages (in case of multiple pages). At the ‘Upload Document’ option, the file is to be uploaded. Applicant should also go to ‘Confirmation Page’ and generate the confirmation page. Application form should be attested by the School Principal from where the student is pursuing Class XI after passing Class X from Board’s Examination. Fresh applicant need not to send the confirmation page to CBSE but should keep it for their reference as a proof of successful applying. Applicants successfully applied and completed the application will only be able to generate confirmation page. Application of those applicants who could not generate confirmation page (not successful), will not be processed.

Applicant should have received CBSE Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship last year (2017-18) and should be a student of CBSE in class XI in 2017-18, scored 50% or more marks in Class XI and promoted to class XII. The tuition fees for Class X should not have been more than Rs. 1,500/- per month during 2017-18. The total enhancement of tuition fee in the next 2 years shall not be more than 10% of the tuition fee. Value of scholarship is Rs. 500/- per month.

Applicants should write their Bank Name, Account number, RTGS/NEFT/IFSC code (11 digits) alphanumeric & Bank address. All the applications must be signed by the applicants. All the applications must be certified along with signature/ stamp of the Principal of the present school where the student is studying.

Documents to be sent with the Application: (i) An attested copy of Mark sheet of Class XI/ 2018 (ii) A copy of Aadhaar number, if any. It must be linked with Bank Account of the candidate (iii) A copy of Bank pass book/ cancelled cheque duly attested.

The filled in proforma for renewal should be sent in an envelope super scribing ‘Application for CBSE merit scholarship for SGC X F-2 (Renewal)’ and should reach ‘Assistant Secretary (Scholarship), Scholarship Unit, CBSE, Shiksha Kendra, 2 Community Centre, Preet Vihar, Delhi 110 092’, by 31st October, 2018.
