ASPIRE Scholarships for higher education in Kerala; Apply by Dec 16
The Scholarships are given to Post Graduate (Second year), M.Phil and PhD students of Colleges affiliated to the Universities in Kerala and those studying in the Teaching Departments under the Kerala, Mahatma Gandhi, Calicut, Kannur Universities, Cochin University of Science and Technology and the Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University.
The Scholarships are being awarded for engaging in a Project work/Internship of short duration. Those selected would get a scholarship of Rs.8000/- per month if the internship is within Kerala and Rs.10000/- for internships outside the state, for a period of 1 month for PG, 2 months for M.Phil and 4 months for PhD. The award will be made in two instalments, the first being at the time of joining and the second after the report is uploaded on completion of the Project work/Internship.
Applicant should be studying in the second year of the Post Graduate course or should be a student of MPhil or Phd in an affiliated Government/Aided College or in a teaching Department of the 6 Universities identified, during the academic year 2019-20. Applicant should be enrolled in a Government/Aided course and should have obtained minimum of 75% attendance in the first year of the course. They should have secured at least 55% marks in the qualifying course (Degree/Post Graduation). Applicant should have an account in his/her name, in a Nationalized/Commercial/Scheduled Bank having an IFS Code, and the same should be live at the time of submission of the application. This account should be Aadhar-linked.
Applicant should obtain a letter of consent from the University approved Guide of the institution under whom; the Project/Internship is proposed to be conducted. A No-objection certificate has to be obtained from the Institution where the student is studying at present.
Applicant will have to upload a synopsis, not exceeding 2 pages, of the proposed work. The other documents to be uploaded include (i) The Registration printout with the passport size photo of the applicant affixed (ii) Self-attested copy of the Mark sheet of the Qualifying examination (iii) self-attested copy of the first page of SSLC and the mark sheet of SSLC (iv) Consent letter from the Guide of the Institution where the Internship/Project work is proposed to be conducted (v) The first page of the Pass book of the Bank account of the applicant showing the name, account number, IFS Code, address of the branch etc), attested by a Gazetted Officer.
The application submitted will be examined by an expert panel and the list of student selected will be uploaded in the scholarship website www.dcescholarship.kerala.gov.in, within two weeks. Intimation will be given by e-mail and SMS to those selected and to the concerned institutions. The scholarship amount will be released through the bank account of the applicant on receipt of the report of Joining from the host institution after getting relieved from the parent institution.
Those selected have to complete the Internship/Project wok within the stipulated time period and submit the report on the same, failing which, the applicant will have to refund the entire amount received as scholarship, with interest. A copy of the report of the Project/Internship has to be submitted to the Director of Collegiate education also, within the stipulated time.
Applications: Applications can be submitted latest by 16 December 2019 at www.dcescholarship.kerala.gov.in though the ASPIRE link and as per the instructions given there. After submission of the application, applicant should take a printout of the submitted application and submit the same completed along with the documents listed at Part 3 of the application printout to the Head of the Institution where the student is studying, latest by 16 December 2019.
The applications and the documents submitted by the students have to be verified and approved (subject to being eligible for approval) online by the Principal of the College/Head of the University Department or the person authorised by him/her, latest by December 31, 2019. The approved documents may be retained in the Institution/Department and should be produced for verification by authorities of the Directorate of Collegiate Education, as and when needed.
