DRDO Scholarship Scheme for Girls: Apply by December 31

Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India, has announced ‘DRDO Scholarship Scheme for Girls’ through Aeronautics Research and Development Board (AR&DB), DRDO HQ.

The scholarships are for girls studying in first year of Under Graduate (BE/B.Tech full time four year degree) and Post Graduate (M.Tech/ME two year full time degree course) in Aerospace Engg / Aeronautical Engg / Space Engg & Rocketry / Avionics / Aircraft Engg programmes. The scholarship scheme aims to attract women from various institutes with an objective to tap the talent of bright students across the country.

A total of 20 scholarships are available for BE/B.Tech/B.Sc. Engg students of Aerospace Engg /Aeronautical Engg / Space Engg & Rocketry /Avionics /Aircraft Engg. The amount of scholarship is Rs.120000/- per year or annual fees whichever is less for a maximum period of four years. Those pursuing dual degree course / integrated master degree in the above mentioned subjects may also apply / receive this scholarship only for first four years as applicable for B.Tech degree course under the above scheme, subject to fulfilling the eligibility requirements.

Applicant must be an Indian National and should have got admission in the 1st year in 2020-21 to the relevant B.E/ B. Tech/B.Sc Engg course. Applicant should have cleared JEE (Main) and should have a valid JEE (Main) score.

There are 10 scholarships for ME/M.Tech/M.Sc Engg students Engg / Aeronautical Engg / Space Engg & Rocketry /Avionics /Aircraft Engg. The scholarship amount will be Rs.15500/- per month subject to Rs.186000/- per year for a maximum period of 2 years.

Applicant must be an Indian National and should have secured admission in the 1st year in 2020-21 to the relevant ME/M.Tech /M.Sc Engg course. Applicant must have scored minimum 60% marks in the qualifying exam (BE/B Tech/B Engg. or equivalent). Applicant should have a valid GATE (General Aptitude Test in Engineering) score.

The scheme is free from any bond obligation. However, the scholars of the scheme will have to do their major final year project work preferably at DRDO/ Govt. Labs or in AR&DB funded projects in any institutions during their course work.

Selection: Under graduate scholarship will be based on the merit of JEE (Main) and Post graduate scholarship will be based on the valid GATE score on merit basis.

Those selected for the scholarship are required to pass all the tests and examinations which may be prescribed by the Institutions so as to maintain a cumulative grade point average of 7.00 or 70% marks to continue to receive the scholarship. The scholarship amount of the particular year will however not be disbursed to those who are not able to pass test/examination and do not successfully complete the academic year.
