Thrissur: Further education of the medical students who returned from Ukraine eight months back in view of the Russia -Ukraine war has been continuing to remain uncertain. Though the classes for the new semester commenced in the medical universities of Ukraine in September, the Indian students are unable to return. However, the classes are proceeding in online mode. The final-year students are troubled as they could not attend the practical session.
Most of the students have transferred the semester fees by November as per the directions of the university authorities. The parents informed that the majority of the universities discarded their request to receive the fees in monthly instalments.
Meanwhile, a few north Indian students have left for Ukraine by ignoring the guidelines issued by the Indian embassy. The Indian embassy has warned that the ongoing Russia- Ukraine war makes returning to Ukraine unfavourable now.
All Kerala Ukraine Medical Students and Parents Association had approached the Supreme Court demanding immediate action to facilitate further education of the medical students who returned from Ukraine to India. The Supreme Court has not issued an order over this plea yet. Thousands of students returned from war-torn Ukraine in March 2022.
