Summer holidays begin for Kerala school students as exams get over

Thiruvananthapuram: Class 10 students are all set to enjoy their summer holidays as the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations came to a close on Wednesday.

4,19,554 students appeared for SSLC exams this year. Paper valuation will be held from April 3 to 26 at 70 camps across the state. The results will be announced in the second week of May.

Meanwhile, the higher secondary examinations will end on Thursday and the valuation will be held from April 3 to May 1.

Class 1-9 exams were also concluded on Wednesday.

Schools will officially close for the summer holidays on Friday. Teachers will be engaged in paper evaluation and training courses during the vacation period.

The next academic year will start on June 1.

Earlier, Kerala education minister V Sivankutty had said that SSLC and higher secondary students who excelled in extracurricular activities will be awarded grace marks this year.
