Thiruvananthapuram: General education minister V Sivankutty on Friday courted a controversy by stating that the SSLC exam results of 2021 turned a laughing stock nationally.
He was inaugurating the distribution of the SchoolWiki awards, established by the KITE (Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education).
“The department has given utmost care in the SSLC and Plus Two exam evaluations. We are trying to make it a nationally recognised qualification.
During the Calling Attention, some members expressed concern over the higher secondary admissions. Even last year, we had said that there is nothing to worry about. In 2021, as many as 1,25,509 students bagged A+ grade in all subjects. The result became a laughing stock nationally. This time, even though 99% cleared the exam, there has been a standard in awarding the A+ grades. Higher secondary also maintained the quality,” the minister said.
As many as 44,363 students scored A+ grade in all subjects this year in SSLC.
The minister also said that the science fair and youth festival, stopped in 2020 due to Covid-19 spread, will be conducted this year.
