Thiruvananthapuram: For the past three years, school students have not received their LSS and USS scholarship money. According to the authority, the distribution of the money is being interrupted due to the delay in switching the procedures to online.

Even though the scholarship results for this year have been published, the authorities have not announced when the distribution of money will begin.
Class five, six and seven students who got the LSS scholarship are to receive Rs 1,000 each. Those who got the USS scholarship should receive Rs 1,500 each for classes eight, nine and ten.

According to the education department officials, only the arrears up to 2018-19 academic year have been settled.

The government had issued an order directing to switch the process to an online method for transferring money directly to the bank account of the students. But this system is still not in place. Hence, the distribution of the scholarship money from the academic year 2019-20 is pending. The Pareeksha Bhavan has been conducting the scholarship exams.

The education department claimed that they have been speeding up the process to directly distribute the money to the accounts of the students and added that the distribution will begin soon. The education department has demanded Rs 30 crore from the finance department to settle the arrears.
