Thiruvananthapuram: Professor Aravindakumar has been appointed as the temporary vice-chancellor of MG University. The appointment was made by the governor, who is also the chancellor of the university, from a panel provided by the government. Professor Aravindakumar is a faculty member at the School of Environmental Science of the university. This appointment comes after the tenure of former VC Sabu Thomas came to an end.

In addition, Dr L Sushma has been appointed as the vice-chancellor in-charge of Malayalam University. Dr. Sushma is a Malayalam professor at Sanskrit University.

The government had recommended reappointment of Prof Sabu Thomas. However, the governor rejected it.
