Write NEET exam in Malayalam this year; registration begins
New Delhi: In a first, the medical entrance exam NEET-UG will be conducted in Malayalam as well. The registration portal has opened and the last date for submitting the application is August 6.
A new exam centre in Kuwait will be available this year to facilitate the Indian student community in the Middle East, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday said.
Pradhan announced that question papers in Punjabi and Malayalam will be added to the existing Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Odia, Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Urdu and English. The applicant needs to choose the language while applying.
NEET-UG is a common entrance test for the courses such as MBBS, BDS (dental), BAMS (Ayurveda), BUMS (Unani), BHMS (Homeopathy), and BSMS (Siddha). In addition to this, 15 percent of the all-India quota of bachelor veterinary degree courses (BVSc &AH) and BSc (Honours) Nursing courses in some institutes too use the NEET-UG score.
Multiple-choice questions from physics, chemistry, botany and zoology make the question paper. As many as 50 questions in each subject, in two parts, will be given. While part A is compulsory, only 10 questions out of 15 have to be answered in part B. Four marks will be awarded for the right question and one mark will be reduced for the wrong ones.
The Minister had on Monday announced that the NEET which was earlier scheduled on August 1 will now be conducted on September 12.
The number of cities where the examination is conducted will be increased from 155 to 198. The number of examination centres will also be increased.
Last year, amid strict precautions in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, a total of 13.66 lakh candidates had appeared in the exam of whom 7,71,500 qualified.
