Want to study abroad? Registration to be made mandatory
New Delhi: Government will soon make registration compulsory for students seeking higher studies in foreign countries. This guideline is proposed in the ‘Emigration Bill’ drafted by the Ministry of External Affairs. Also ‘Emigration Management Authority’ will be formed to ensure the safety and welfare of those migrating to other countries.
This Bill is being introduced in the wake of security concern in times of civil wars and other issues abroad, MEA said.
It is expected that by proper records and statistics of those studying and working in foreign countries, it would be possible to bring them back safely in times of emergency situations.
Also, registration will be made mandatory for the recruitment agencies that take students to foreign countries. Registration is already mandatory for people going to 18 countries including UAE, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Indonesia, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Thailand, Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
