UGC NET from May 2
New Delhi: The National Testing Agency has released the dates of UGC NET 2021. Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank announced that the National Eligibilty Test (NET), will be conducted from May 2.

Eligible candidates can apply through the official website ugcnet.nta.nic.in till March 2.
The fees can be paid till March 3.
For General category- Rs. 1000, for EWS, OBC (NCL) category Rs. 500, SC/ST, Differently abled, Transgender category- Rs 250.
The 3-hour online exam will be divided into morning and afternoon sessions. The morning session will be from 9 am to 12 pm. And the afternoon session will be between 3 pm and 6 pm.
The Subjects in which NET will be held is given in Annexure -II of the Information Bulletin that can be downloaded from ugcnet.nta.nic.in. The list of Examination Cities is given in Annexure-III.
It will have two papers without any break between papers, with objective type, multiple choice questions. Paper I will have 50 questions (100 marks) to assess the teaching/ research aptitude. It will be designed to test reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness. Paper II will have 100 questions (200 marks) based on the subject selected by the candidate and will assess domain knowledge. There is no negative marking for incorrect response. Applicant may appear in the subject of their P.G only. Those whose Post Graduation subject is not covered in the list of NET subjects, may appear in a related subject.
Eligibility for ‘Assistant Professor’ or for ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ will be based on the performance in both the papers of UGC-NET in aggregate. Those qualifying exclusively for Assistant Professor will not be considered for the award of JRF. Those who qualify for JRF are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor. They will be eligible to receive fellowship of UGC under various schemes, subject to their finding placement in universities/IITs/Institutions. The validity period of the offer will be three years w.e.f. the date of issue of JRF Award Letter. For those who have already joined M. Phil. / Ph.D., Fellowship will commence from date of declaration of NET result or date of joining, whichever is later.
Eligibility: Applicant should have a Master’s Degree/equivalent in one of Humanities and Social Science (including languages), Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science etc. with at least 55% marks (50% marks OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third gender categories). Those pursuing Master’s degree/ equivalent course/appeared for Master’s (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited/whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply provisionally. If qualifying in NET, they will be considered for JRF/eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they pass their Master’s Degree/equivalent examination with prescribed marks within two years from the date of NET result.
For JRF, applicant should not be more than 31 years of age as on 1 March 2021. OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third gender categories and women applicants will get a relaxation of up to 5 years in upper age limit.
Application: Applications can be submitted at ugcnet.nta.nic.in latest by 2 March 2021.
Application Fee is Rs.1000/- (Rs.500/- for Gen-EWS/ OBC-NCL, Rs. 250/- for SC/ST/PwD/Third gender). Fee can be paid online till 11.50 pm on 3 March 2021.
Selection of candidates for the following Fellowships of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Ministry of Minorities Affairs is also made through the UGC-NET: • National Fellowship for Scheduled Caste Students (NFSC) • National Fellowship for Other Backward Classes (NFOBC) • Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students (MANF). Those aspiring for the Fellowships listed above, shall also have to apply for the Test.
