Kochi: There is a record increase in the number of students joining the Kerala state syllabus this academic year. Compared to last year, 1.52 lakh students have joined the state syllabus this year.
There is record increase in the number of students joining Class 1 in state syllabus. As per the statistics till mid-May, more than 70,000 students have joined.
The surge in numbers is attributed to general education rejuvenation mission by the government. Government schools are achieving this status while some of the CBSE schools are facing the threat of shut down due to lack of affiliation.
Path to success
Jessy Joseph, director-in-charge of general education department said that PTA activities were strengthened by ensuring participation of parents. Compulsory courses and trainings for teachers were introduced. Also arts and cultural fests were conducted.
