Summer Student Programme at Saha Institute: Apply by February 15
Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) has invited applications for the Summer Student Programme (SSP) in Physical Sciences and Biophsyicsal Sciences.
Under the Programme, students participate in research and developmental work under the supervision of a faculty or a research staff. The program will typically involve participation in an assigned project, attending some lectures, and submitting a final report in the prescribed format.
Eligibility: First-year M.Sc. or equivalent B. Tech (at the completion of 3rd year) students with excellent academic records in Physical/Chemical/Life Sciences/Engineering are encouraged to apply. Those doing an integrated M.Sc. (BS-MS) should have completed at least 3 years. Only those whose academic interests overlap with areas being pursued in SINP will be considered. One may visit the SINP website (http://www.saha.ac.in/) of different divisions to know more about the research activities of different divisions. This programme is normally offered for 8 weeks from the middle of May to the middle of June.
Selection: The selection is based on the academic records of the students and letters of recommendation. Preliminary selection is purely based on the academic performance of the student, weighted appropriately by the ranking of the student's current affiliation. After the initial selection, the Institute will seek referee reports to make the final selection. The process does not involve any written test or interview. The selection in two different streams of Physical Sciences and Biophysical Sciences is independent.
Stipend/Accommodation: Selected students are paid a monthly stipend according to the rules of the institute, and it will be approximately Rs 7000/- per month. The selected students will be also paid round trip Sleeper-Class train fare from the place of their residence/home to the institute. The off-campus students will be provided with free shared accommodation.
If the selected candidate is a fellow from KVPY, INSPIRE, Academies or any other similar fellowship program, SINP will not cover any expense that the fellowship covers.

In case result of the last exam appeared is not available by January 31, 2020, % of marks obtained in the last major exam (e.g. BSc for MSc students) must be mentioned.
