SSC at Armed Forces Medical Services
Kochi: Applications have been invited from Indian citizens (male and female), who have passed their final MBBS (Part-I & II) examination in first or second attempt and completed internship, for grant of Short Service Commission in the Armed Forces Medical Services as Officers for a promising and challenging career.
Those who have taken more than two chances in final MBBS (Part I & II) Examination are not eligible to apply. The released AMC/SSC officers will be eligible for grant of fresh tenure of Short Service Commission provided such officers apply within one year of the date of their release. The released AMC/SSC officers who have acquired PG degree may also apply for fresh tenure. Candidates released on resignation/pre-mature retirement from AFMS will not be eligible for re-commission in AMC.
The applicant must possess medical qualification included in First/Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule of IMC Act 1956. The applicant must have permanent registration from any State Medical Council/MCI. Post graduate degree/ diploma holders (MD/MS/MCh/DM/DNB/DLO/DOMS/DA may also apply. Only those candidates who have completed/will be completing their internship on or before 31st December, 2015 need to apply.
Applicant must not have attained 45 years of age as on 31st December, 2016. Only online registrations are accepted. This can be done from 12th December 2015 to 6th January, 2016, at http://www.amcsscentry.gov.in
The following documents in scanned format are required to be uploaded at the time of on line submission of application (a) Passport size photograph (.jpeg, size up to 100kb) (b) Scanned copy of Class X certificate as a proof of date of birth (.pdf, size up to 200kb)
A fee of Rs 200/- will be charged from the applicants towards application processing. The requisite amount is required to be paid at the end of the application submission through online payment (internet banking/credit card/debit card). No other mode of payment is acceptable.
The registration number and on line payment transaction number are required to be saved for quoting for further enquiries / correspondence. Candidates should check the website and their registered email regularly for updates regarding interview dates and other relevant details.
Eligible applicants will be called for interview by a Board of Officers in the month of January 2016 at Kolkata to assess their suitability and merit for grant of Short Service Commission in the Armed Forces Medical Services. Those who qualify in the interview will be subjected to the Medical Examination Tests. The exact dates are to be notified online.

The following documents are essentially required to be produced for verification at the time of interview.
(a) Matriculation Certificate (Class X) as a proof of name and date of birth
(b) Permanent Medical Registration Certificate
(c) Internship Completion Certificate
(d) MBBS/PG Examination Degree Certificate
(e) Final MBBS (Part I & II) Attempt Certificate
(f) No Objection Certificate from present employer, if any
(g) NCC Certificate, if any
(h) National Board of Examination Certificate for foreign Medical Graduates
(i) Gazette Notification or any other authority clearly highlighting applicant’s new name, if there is any change in the name after Matriculation (10th Class)
Applicants should carry the original and four attested photocopies of all the documents as mentioned above at the time of interview for verification. Any variation in the details provided and documents submitted online will lead to rejection of the candidature. A candidate on grant of commission is liable to be employed as per service requirement in any part of the country or abroad, in Army, Navy or Air Force. They may have to work independently in the units allotted to them.
The tenure of SSC officers is 5 years, extendable by another 9 years in two spells first of 5 years and second of 4 years, for those who are willing to continue, subject to availability of vacancies and meeting the laid down eligibility criteria for grant of extension as per extant policy.
Those released from AMC service on expiry of initial contractual period of five years will only be considered for grant of commission in AMC for second tenure. Those released after expiry of 10 years of SSC service will not be considered for grant of commission in AMC for second spell of four years of extendable tenure.
Doctors on commissioning in the Armed Forces Medical Services will be granted the rank of Captain (or equivalent rank in Navy/Air Force) in the scale of Rs. 17160-39100 plus Grade pay Rs. 6100/- plus Military Service Pay (MSP) Rs. 6000/-, Non-practicing allowance at the rate of 25% of the Basic Pay (Pay + Grade Pay + MSP) and Dearness Allowance (total emolument at minimum of Pay Scale at the time of joining will be approximately Rs. 78000/- pm). In addition, entitled free ration, subsidized accommodation and allied facilities shall be provided. PG degree holder will be eligible for PG allowance of Rs. 1500/- p.m. or specialist pay after undergoing the laid down procedure. In addition, officers are entitled to 60 days Annual Leave & 20 days Casual Leave in a year, Leave Travel Concession (LTC), free Medical Services for self & family including dependent parents, Group Insurance of Rs. 40 lakhs & Canteen Stores Depot (CSD) facility etc. The above emoluments are subject to revision according to implementation orders of the 7th Pay Commission.
