Shortage of teachers at SSLC answer sheet evaluation camps
Kannur: The evaluation process of Class 10 answer sheets has begun in the state from Monday. The evaluation camps in Kannur belonging to the north zone are facing a shortage of teachers amid lockown. On Monday only 30 % of the teachers attended the camp. The lack of transport facilities resulted in the low turnout.
Evaluation camps were set up at GHSS Pallikkunnu, Thalassery GHSS for Girls, GGHSS Thiruvangad and Payyannur AKASGVHSS.
99 teachers were alloted to the biology paper evaluation camp at GHSS Pallikkunnu, but only 22 attended the camp. Only 65 out of the 206 teachers allotted at the evaluation camp for Malayalam II paper held at Thalassery GHSS for Girls were present on Monday. This is the only camp for the Malayalam II paper evaluation in north zone where 96,665 papers are to be evaluated.
The only evaluation camp for Hindi in north zone, GGHSS Thiruvangad had only 54 teachers present out of the 216 persons where 98,304 papers are to be evaluated.
Almost all other camps were in similar state. The reduction in attendance will result in longer period of evaluation. On an average, a teacher can evaluate up to 24 papers a day.
Though teachers’ associations demanded KSRTC bus services and accommodation facilities to be arranged for those on evaluation duty, these demands were neglected, teachers alleged.
However, concerned officials in charge of evaluation camps are hopeful more teachers will attend the camp in coming days.
