Thrissur: After two months long summer vacation, schools in the state will open for the new academic year on Thursday. It is for the first time in history, class 1 to class 12 will be opened together in Kerala.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the state level Pravesanolsavam, the official school opening ceremony at Chembuchira school in Thrissur where over 60 children took admission in first standard.
A total of one lakh students are expected to join the Pravesanolsavam. A dance performance will be staged along with the official song of Pravesanolsavam.
Meanwhile, Kerala scripted a new history by starting the new academic year for classes 1 to 12 on the same day. Usually, plus one classes will commence in last week June or first week of July. But as the first two allotments are completed, the government decided to start plus one classes too.
At the same time, UDF will boycott the pravesanolsavam to protest over the implementation of Khader committee report which proposed single directorate for education sector in the state.
