Schools to have 6 working days, mid-day meals will be provided: Education Minister
Thiruvananthapuram: Education Minister V Sivankutty disclosed more details regarding the reopening of the school. He said in the assembly that Saturdays will be working day for schools and that the mid-day meal will be provided for the children.
The minister said that the guidelines for reopening have been prepared and it has been handed over to the chief minister who will announce it on Thursday. The mid-day meal system will be resumed following the Covid protocols and with the help of PTA members, locals and other statutory bodies.
Only two students per bench will be allowed in lower primary classes. Also, only half-day classes will be conducted and shift system will be implemented in schools with high enrolment.
Schools will be provided with a fitness certificate since it was closed for a long period. The students of the schools that do not have fitness certificates will be shifted to nearby schools.
Help from PTA and locals will be sought to finish the repair works of the school buses. The KSRTC has offered to reduce the bus fare for students. The case with the private buses will be intimated within two days after the meeting with them.
