Online/Distance Training Course in Science Journalism

A maximum of 100 students will be admitted to the course

Computer ScienceIndian Science Communication Society (ISCS), Chandrika Bhawan, 577-D, Near Dandahiya Masjid, Lucknow-226022, has invited applications for admission to the one year Training Course In Science Journalism (TCSJ) through Online/Distance Learning.

The course will focus exclusively on science journalism. The broad objectives of the training course in science journalism include imparting the basic journalistic skills and techniques, equipping the participants with the requisite expertise so that they can popularize Science & Technology and can also communicate effectively through different media with a view to simulate scientific outlook; updating their knowledge and competency in various functional areas of science journalism like Science Communication and popularization, S & T policy and set-up, Science News Reporting and Writing, Science Fiction and Plays etc; familiarizing the participants about the ethics of science journalism; exposing the participants to the world of media and media organization and providing them hands-on experience in critical areas of science journalism.

A maximum of 100 students will be admitted to the course.

Personal Contact Programme (PCP) will be conducted towards the end of the course, before the final examination. In PCP, the participants will get an opportunity to interact and discuss their problems during training with subject experts from different institutions. On line lecture Programmes on the latest development in the field by experts will also be arranged.

After completing the course the students will have to appear for the final examination at different/designated cities in the country, to be arranged by ISCOS. 

Eligibility: Applicant should be holding a B.Sc/B.Sc Agriculture/ B.Tech/ B.Pharma/ MBBS Degree or Diploma in Engineering or should be a Graduate in any subject with three year experience in Science Journalism or Science Writing.

Fees: The fee for the program will be Rs. 3500/- for Inland applicants and US $ 500.00 for Overseas applicants. This can be paid online or through Bank Draft/ Cheque. Bank Draft should be prepared in favor of ‘Indian Science Communication Society’, payable at Lucknow, before submission of online application form.

After submission of application, a copy of application form will be send on applicant’s email. Applicant should take a print of this email.

The printout, along with photocopies of all documents pertaining to qualification/ experience and Bank Draft/ Cheque of Rs. 3500/- should be send to ‘The Course Coordinator, Indian Science Communication Society, Chandrika Bhawan, Near Dandahiya Masjid, Lucknow - 226022, India’ by registered/Speed post to reach latest by June 30, 2018.
