Kozhikode: As the online schooling initiative by Kerala government amid COVID pandemic and lockdown is nearing one month, 21 subjects of the higher secondary syllabus remain untouched. Most of the students are in jeopardy as no proper classes are provided on these subjects.
There are 46 combinations in HSE out of which subjects belonging to only 14 combinations are being taught through the KITE Victers channel. 21 subjects are pending. For some combinations, no single subject is taught online.
For the 12 elective subjects in HSE, 10 are not included in online classes. Only Hindi and Malayalam are taught.
The subjects which have no online classes at present are – Home Science, Geology, Electronics, Statistics, Psychology, Music, Gandhian Studies, Philosophy, Islamic History, Social work, Anthropology, Journalism, Electronic Service Technology, Communicative English, Malayalam Part III, Arabic Part III, Urdu part III, Kannada part III, Tamil part III and Sanskrit Part III.
The reason for dropping these subjects from online classes is attributed to the lesser number of students joining these subjects. Taking time for such subjects for a few students will be a trouble for everyone.
The available option is launching of another channel for these students. At present, teachers make videos themselves and send to the students via mail or WhatsApp.
