Now, guest lecturers to get salary on time
Malappuram: Giving relief to the guest lecturers in aided colleges, the government has introduced a new mechanism to give salary on time. Minister KT Jaleel has confirmed that salary to the guest lecturers in aided colleges will be given through principals via treasury. Hence, principals will have the power to directly withdraw money from the treasury.
Following the coronavirus outbreak, principals were entitled to withdraw money from treasury temporarily. With the new decision regarding salary distribution of guest lecturers, the government has decided to allow principals to continue with the practice. Earlier, salary was distributed via Deputy Director of Education office.
Meanwhile, guest lecturers in aided colleges have been waiting to receive their remuneration after teaching students and examining answer sheets for a year. It is reported that salary in June was not distributed to them even after the end of 2019-20 academic year. Some received salary only in June. Many guest lectures are waiting for three to four months of salary.
People registered in Higher Education Directorate are entitled to apply for guest lecture post. All certificates will be examined during the registration. The lecturers have to submit their certificates for examination while joining the college. According to the lecturers, the salary will not be distributed to them until the college authority completes the certificate verification.
Along with this, a proposal should be submitted to the DDE revealing time of duty and time table every month. Salary will be sanctioned to the guest lecturers once the section in DDE office, accounts and DDE complete examining the proposal. If there is any mistake in the proposal, it will be sent back to the lecturer. The salary will be delayed again as the correction of the proposal will take time.
