Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan confirmed that the government will not take a hasty decision to reopen schools and colleges in the state. A decision regarding this will be taken only after holding talks with experts, informed the CM while addressing the media after the COVID review meeting here on Tuesday.
“The government has to consider reopening schools and colleges for students in higher classes who are appearing for public examinations. But, starting classes for students in lower classes is not possible in the present situation,” pointed out the CM.
He added that the government will examine the scope of reopening institutions in higher education level after assessing the fall in COVID-19 cases. The institutions will be opened only after examining the situation and taking preventive measures.
The CM hoped to take a decision regarding this after consulting experts in the field.
