NEET 2017: Over 6 lakh students qualify
Kozhikode: A total of 6,11,539 out of the 10,90,085 who appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG), 2017 have been declared qualified in the examination. Of this 266221 are males, 345313 females and 5 transgender.
The qualifying criterion for the Others (General) category was the 50th percentile score which has been declared as 131. So all those who secured 131 marks out of 720 in NEET UG 2017, have been declared qualified in the examination under the General category (Others). A total of 54,373 candidates had marks within this cut-off in ‘Others’ category. The highest mark in this category is 697.
For the OBC/SC/ST categories, the cot off was fixed as the 40th percentile score which has come to 107. For UR-PH, was the 45th percentile score which is 118. For the PH of SC/ST/OBC categories, the cut off applicable is the 40th percentile which is 107.
The seats to be filled through NEET-UG include the All India Quota Seats in Government Medical and Dental Colleges, the State Government Quota Seats, the State/Management/NRI Quota Seats in Private Medical/ Dental Colleges or any Private/ Deemed University as well as the Central Pool Quota Seats.
CBSE has provided All India Rank to the candidates. Admitting Authorities will draw merit list based on All India Rank for the seats of MBBS/BDS falling under their jurisdiction.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India will conduct the Counselling for 15% All India Quota seats as done earlier. Candidates should visit www.mcc.nic.in for further information regarding cut off marks, etc.
For State quota and other seats falling under the purview of the States, candidates have to apply/should have applied to their domicile states. A merit list as per State rules and based on All India Rank of NEET UG 2017, will be prepared by concerned Counselling Authorities. The counselling for Private Medical Colleges will also be conducted by the concerned State Counselling Authority. Details of the various Counselling Authorities are given in Appendix IV, Page 42 of NEET 2017 UG Information Bulletin.
The declaration of the result and admission is subject to the decision of Special Leave Petitions Nos.16307/17, 16311/17 & 17447/1/2017 as directed by Supreme Court of India in its decision dated 12.06.2017. The result in respect of the candidates above 25 years of age is also subject to the outcome of Writ Petition pending before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in this regard.
