Hotel ManagementApplications have been invited for the National Hospitality Teachers Eligibility Test (NHTET) to be conducted by National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT).

The Aptitude test is being conducted to filter the best among the better to declare them eligible for Assistant Lecturer and Teaching Associates in NCHMCT affiliated Institutes of Hotel Management.

Those declared eligible for Assistant Lecturer can apply against any vacancy, if announced by NCHMCT affiliated IHMs, either of Government sector, PSU owned or Private sector. The NHTET qualified candidate will not have any right of automatic induction in NCHMCT affiliated IHMs. They have to face a separate selection process for induction as Assistant lecturer or Teaching Associates. Only those with a valid NHTET pass certificate are eligible to be recruited as Teaching Associate or Assistant Lecturer under direct recruitment against any regular vacancy in NCHMCT affiliated IHMs.

Eligibility: Applicant should hold a full time Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Administration/ Hotel Management after 10+2 from a recognized University with at least 60% marks and at least 2 years Hospitality industry experience after obtaining Degree or should hold a Full time Master’s Degree in Hospitality Administration/ Hotel Management after Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Administration/ Hotel Management from a recognized University with at least 60% marks either in Bachelor or Master’s Degree.

Those appearing in the final semester/ final year exam of the Master’s degree in Hotel/ Hospitality Management/Administration and have passed all subjects of previous year/ semester, and also having Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Administration/ Hotel Management from a recognized University with at least 60% marks, can also apply.

Those who are in 2nd year (3rd Semester) of their Master’s Degree in Hospitality are not eligible to apply.

Age: Age should not be more than 30 years. Relaxation of age by 3 years for those belong to OBC categories and by 5 years for those belong to SC/ST/PD categories, is applicable as per rules. General category applicants should have been born on or after 31.12.1988, OBC applicants on or after 31.12.1985 and SC/ST& PD applicants, on or after 31.12.1983.

Number of attempts: There is no restriction on the number of chances a person can appear for the test, within the permissible age of 30 years. However, an OBC (non-creamy layer) may apply up to 33 years of age and SC/ST/PD may apply up to 35 years of age.

Scheme and Date of Test: The Test will be held on 6th October 2018 in two sittings, from 9 a.m. to 1.30 p.m at Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Gurdaspur, Guwahati, Hajipur (Near Patna), Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Noida and Thiruvananthapuram.

The Test will consist of three papers with objective type questions only. The first session of 2 hours duration will be from 9 am to 11 am and will have two papers.

Paper-I will have 50 questions carrying 100 marks, with each question carrying 2 marks. Questions will be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test aptitude and method towards teaching, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness/ knowledge of the candidate.

Paper II will also have 50 Questions carrying 100 marks, with each question carrying 2 marks, from Nutrition, Food science, General Management, hotel accounts (for hospitality related teaching posts)

Second session of 2 hours duration will be held from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m and will have one paper, Paper III with 100 Questions carrying 200 marks, with each question, carrying 2 marks. Questions will be from four core areas of hospitality- Food Production, F & B Service and Management, Accommodation Operation Management and House Keeping Management. For multiple choice questions, ½ mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Candidate will have to mark the responses for questions of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet provided along with the Test Booklet. It may be noted that, single Question paper booklet and single OMR sheet will be used for Paper-I and Paper-II. The detailed instructions for filling up the OMR Sheet will be mentioned in the call letter/ hall ticket

Application: Applications can be submitted only online through http://www.thims.gov.in/ latest by 25th September, 2018. Detailed Information Brochure and instructions for filling the application form are available at this site.

Application fee: Application fee is Rs.800/- for male General/OBC categories and Rs.400/- for all female applicants as well as SC/ST/PD categories. Thos has to be paid by way of a DD from any approved Bank before filling up the form, since the DD number will be required to fill in the form.

The printout of the application form along with the DD towards application fee should reach, NCHMCT, A 34, Sector 62, Noida- 201309, latest by 29th September, 2018, by Speed/Registered Post.

Admit Card can be downloaded from http://www.thims.gov.in/, between 2nd and 5th October 2018.  

After the NHTET exam is over, the answer key will be uploaded in http://www.thims.gov.in/ by 8th October 2018. Candidates can challenge the answer with documentary proof up to 13th October 2018, by mail to diraf-nchm@nic.in only. In case, any candidate challenges any answer, the same will be forwarded to the expert committee for decision and the decision along with final Answer Key will be uploaded in www.thims.gov.in latest by 19th October 2018.

Results are expected to be declared at http://www.thims.gov.in/ by 26th October 2018.

Candidates are required to obtain following minimum marks separately in Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III and Aggregate of three Papers, to become eligible for both, Assistant Lecturer and Teaching Associates.

General/ OBC candidates need 45 marks in each of Paper I and Paper II, 100 marks in Paper III and 200 marks in aggregate. For PWD/ SC/ ST, it would be 40, 40, 90 and 180 respectively.

For Teaching Associate position, General/ OBC Candidates need 40, 40; 90 and 180 respectively and PWD/ SC/ ST need 35, 35, 80 and 160 respectively.

The Certificates of passing NHTET will be dispatched to the candidates accordingly. However, till the candidate is not getting the original certificate, the downloaded result from the site will be valid.

Those who qualify will receive a detailed mark sheet cum-certificate which will be for the period mentioned on it, to apply for a post of Assistant Lecturer in NCHM or any of its affiliated IHMs.

The Certificate will have valid up to the period, the Candidate will remain in the maximum age prescribed to apply against any vacancy of Assistant Lecturer and Teaching Associates at NCHMCT’s affiliated IHMs.
