Nandakumar tortured me emotionally during PhD, says writer Jeevan Job Thomas
Kozhikode: Popular science writer Jeevan Job Thomas levelled a new allegation against the controversial professor of MG University, Nandakumar Kalarikkal.
According to Jeevan, Nandakumar accused him of stealing the answer papers of MSc students of the department. When Jeevan asked him to file a complaint with the Vice Chancellor instead of shouting at him, he left the office. He returned after some time and apologised to him, saying the papers were found at his home, wrote Jeevan in a Facebook post.
Higher education minister R Bindu has commented in support of the writer on the post. She had earlier extended support to the protesting scholar who alleged caste discrimination by Nandakumar. The university was forced to suspend him after the intervention of the minister.
It is one of the many such events in which Nandakumar abused him, Jeevan wrote. He even wanted to discontinue the coursework due to the torture. However, Nandakumar assured him that he would cooperate to finish the work as soon as possible.
"The tears I shed in my hostel room during my PhD period still haunts me. I realise that the care of the friends and family during that time saved my life," he wrote. Jeevan said that he had witnessed many students discontinuing the course. Jeevan finished his PhD in Physics from the School of Pure and Applied Physics, MG University.
