More institutions postpone exams scheduled on 'hartal' day
Kozhikode: Exams in Kerala scheduled on September 27 have been postponed due to `hartal’.
Kerala University of Health Sciences, Calicut University, MG University, Kerala University, Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) postponed all exams scheduled on Monday.
Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) cancelled some exams partially.
The Technical Education Department said the exams of semester 5, 6 (revision, 2015) of the three-year engineering diploma are postponed to October 7. Food craft course exams are rescheduled on September 30. Exam time will remain the same.
Trade unions declared that Bharath Bandh on September 27 will be observed as ‘hartal’ in Kerala. Ruling LDF has extended support.
The 12-hour-long hartal is to protest against the Union government. As usual, essential services like milk, newspaper, ambulance, medicines, marriages and others will not be affected.
Farmers from different parts of the country, especially Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, have been protesting on Delhi borders since November last year, demanding repeal of the three contentious farm laws that they fear would do away with the Minimum Support Price system, leaving them at the mercy of big corporations.
