MBBS seats at Kozhikode Medical College get permanent recognition
Thiruvananthapuram: The Medical Council of India (MCI) has awarded permanent recognition to the 250 MBBS seats at the Government Medical College in Kozhikode.
The recognition was given after finding that the college is in possession of best quality facilities, including classrooms capable of admitting 250 students, library, hostels, exam halls and student tutor ratio.
Even though MCI had increased the capacity from 200 seats to 250 seats, it hadn’t given the permanent recognition and was awarded each year after an MCI team visits and inspects the college.
Kozhikode Medical College has the most number of MBBS seats in the state.
The 50 seats (apart from the earlier 100) at Kottayam medical college has also obtained MCI permanent recognition.
In total there are 1300 MBBS seats in the state distributed across 9 medical colleges.
