MBBS fees in self-financing colleges hiked by 6.41 percent
Thiruvananthapuram: The Justice Rajendrababu Committee has issued an order revising the fees for MBBS courses at self-financing medical colleges. The demand of managements to hike the annual fees to Rs 10 lakh was rejected and the same was revised with a hike of 6.41 percent from last year.
Justice Rajendrababu, chairman of the fee regulatory committee, said that the fees was decided adhering to the final verdict issued by Supreme Court.
Earlier, the managements had moved High Court questioning the fee structure. HC had then ordered to review the fee structure. Meanwhile, parents and the government had approached the Supreme Court against the order. Following this, SC had ordered the government not to implement the new fee structure.
The committee had not reviewed the fee structure as ordered by HC. In this situation, instead of the new fee structure, a hike of 6.41 percent on the previous year's fee was decided considering the inflation rate.
