MBBS at Kannur, Karuna: HC reserves order
Kochi: The High Court of Kerala on Friday has reserved its order on MBBS admission at Kannur Medical College and Karuna Medical College for the current academic year. The medical colleges had approached the HC against the Admission Supervisory Committee's order. The court considered the petition and gave an opportunity for the medical colleges to retain the admission made by them.
The court, on 7 October 2016, asked Kannur and Karuna Medical Colleges to be present before the CEE at spot admission with all relevant records to substantiate their claim on transparency and inter se merit. After the spot admission, the CEE submitted its report to the HC on 13 October 2016.
The CEE submitted the HC to uphold the order of cancellation of the entire MBBS admissions made by the Kannur Medical College, Anjarakkandy for the year 2016-17 and approve the list of 100 candidates admitted in Karuna Medical College. The CEE had cancelled admission of 30 candidates in Karuna and admitted another 30 students during the spot admission. The revised list is submitted to the HC for approval.
However, the HC, on 13 October 2016, asked the CEE to submit the reports on MBBS admission in Kannur and Karuna Medical Colleges as affidavits on 19 October 2016. Later, the court heard the arguments of medical colleges and the ASC.
