MBBS admission at JIPMER: Apply by May 4
Kochi: Jawaharlal Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) Puducherry-605 006, an Institution of National Importance under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Government of India has invited applications for admission to M.B.B.S. Course for 150 seats at JIPMER Puducherry and 50 seats at JIPMER Karaikal.
Admission to the course is through a Common Entrance Examination to be conducted by JIPMER at various centres across India 05.06.2016 (Sunday), as an online mode Entrance Examination to be conducted in two shifts with the morning shift from 10 am to 12.30 pm and the afternoon shift from 3 pm to 6 pm.
The examination will be held at Agarthala, Aizwal, Ambala, Amritsar, Asansol, Belgaum, Bengaluru, Bhatinda, Bishnupur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi NCR Dibrugarh, Durgapur, Faridabad, Gandhi Nagar, Greater Noida, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Guntur, Gwalior, Guwahati, Hissar, Howrah, Hooghly, Hyderabad, Imphal, Indore, Jabalpur, Jalandhar, Jamshedpur, Kottayam, Kalyani, Kannur, Karimnagar, Kolkata, Kurnool, Kurukshetra, Lucknow, Madurai, Mangalore, Mathura, Meerut, Mohali, Mumbai, Mysore, Nagercoil, Nagpur, Namakkal, Patiala, Puducherry, Rajahmundry, Ranchi, Salem, Sangrur, Siliguri, Sonipat, Shimoga, Tezpur, Thiruvannamalai, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Trichy, Trissur, Trivandrum, Vijayawada, Visakhapatinam, Vizianagaram, Warrangal and Yamunanagar.
The examination shall be conducted in English medium only. The questions will be based on the syllabus as prescribed by State Board Hr. Sec. and CBSE for XI & XII Standards. The Entrance Examination consists of 200 single best response type Multiple Choice type Questions with 60 questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Biology, 10 from Logic and Quantitative Reasoning and 10 from English and Comprehension. Each correct response shall be awarded 1 mark. There is no negative marking for wrong answers. All questions will be of one best / correct response type having four alternatives. The response of the candidate for a question(s), on click of ‘submit’ button before closing of Examination shall be considered as the response chosen by the candidate. Questions that are answered and ‘Marked for Review’ will be considered as answered. Candidates may go through the Mock Test for computer based Test. Applicant should be an Indian National. Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) registered under section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 are also eligible to appear for the test and all terms and conditions applicable for Indian Nationals given in the Prospectus will be applicable to them. The candidate will submit proof of Registration as OCI under section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 along with the application to be eligible to appear for this test. NRI / OCIs would be considered for admission only against the unreserved category in the event of them not submitting their application under Self Financing Scheme. NRI / OCI candidates wishing to be considered for seats under Self Financing Scheme are required to indicate the same at the stage of application itself. Request to exercise this option at any later stage will not be entertained under any circumstances.
Applicant should complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December 2016. Applicant should have been born on or before 01-01-2000. There is no upper age limit.
Applicants should have passed the Higher / Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher / Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) or any other elective with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education. The applicant must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology at the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination. For candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Classes / OPH the marks obtained in the Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio -technology taken together in the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination is 40%. For OPH candidates in general category the minimum marks taken together in the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination will be 45%.

Those who have passed the qualifying examination other than those mentioned in the list appended in Annexure-I, will have to submit an Eligibility Certificate before admission is finalized. Obtaining such an Eligibility Certificate from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi is essential for OCI/NRI for admission to JIPMER M.B.B.S. Course.
Those who have appeared or will be appearing in the qualifying examination in March / April 2016 and whose results have not yet been declared can also apply for admission.
Applications can be submitted online at http://www.jipmer.edu.in latest by 5 pm on 04.05.2016 (Wednesday).
Applicant should go to the link ‘Apply on-line MBBS admission-2016’. Application Fee for General (UR) / OBC / NRI / OCI is Rs.1000/- +Transaction Charges as applicable. For SC/ST, it is Rs.800/-. OPH applicants are exempted from application fee. Payment can be made only through Net Banking / Credit Card / Debit Card.
Applicant can opt for three Exam Cities. The allotment of Exam City would be as per the order of preference clicked by applicant during on-line registration on a first-cum-first served basis. Normally the first preference would be allotted. JIPMER, depending upon local conditions, reserves the right to allot any other Exam City other than the preferences given by the applicant.
The process of submission of application On-line is completed only after clicking the ‘submit’ button after Up loading personal details, Scanned Photograph and Scanned Signature. The candidate is advised to download a copy of their filled in application which would contain Application No., Personal details, scanned photograph, scanned signature and the payment details.
Applicants will be able to download of Hall Ticket from http://www.jipmer.edu.in from 11 am on 20.05.2016 (Friday) to 8 am on 05.06.2016 (Sunday). The Hall Tickets will not be sent by Post. The venue, time and shift of the examination will be given in the Hall Ticket. The shift will be allotted by JIPMER.
Candidates should report at the exam venue latest by 7.30 am/1.30 pm. Entry to examination centre closes at 9.15 am/2.30 pm. This is to facilitate completing all the formalities including Biometrics and Photo capture. Exam starts at 10 am/3 pm. Candidate will not be permitted to leave the exam hall before 12.30 pm/5.30 pm, the time of close of examination. Applicant can carry only Hall Ticket along with Valid Identity Proof and Photocopy of the same ID proof inside the hall. Valid ID Proof includes Passport / Driving License / Bank Passbook with Photograph / Photo Identify proof issued by a Gazetted Officer / School Principal (on official Letterhead), Aadhar Card with Photograph and Domicile Certificate with Photo / Mark sheet with Photograph. ID Proof other than mentioned above will not be accepted. Biometric authentication through digital device and hard copy of signature and fingerprint in attendance sheet will be taken.
Merit List is expected to be published at 9 pm on 13.06.2016 (Monday). The result will be displayed on the Notice Board of Academic Section, JIPMER and will also be available at JIPMER website at www.jipmer.edu.in. Candidates can download their Rank Letter from the website portal (http://www.jipmer.edu.in). Results of individual candidates will not be communicated in any other form/manner.
Merit Ranking would be based on percentile and the individual marks obtained by the Candidates will be displayed along with percentile score. Merit List would be drawn category wise based on minimum percentile which would be 50 for Unreserved (UR)/OCI/NRI, 45 for Unreserved (UR)-OPH and 40 for SC / ST / OBC /- OPH. The percentile score will be the normalized score for the examination. If the percentiles for the two shifts are dissimilar/ unequal, the lower of the two will be the eligibility cut-off for that category for all candidates (both shifts).
Only those NRI / OCI candidates who opt for admission under Self Financing Scheme at the time of application itself will be considered for the merit list to 6 Seats for NRI/OCI status candidates.
There are 150 seats at JIPMER Campus Puducherry (JCP) of which the Unreserved (UR) seats are 50. Seats for other categories are as follows. Other Backward Classes (OBC)-28, Scheduled Caste (SC) - 16, Scheduled Tribe (ST) -11, Puducherry -40 (P-UR-23, P-OBC-11 & P-SC-6), NRI / OCI (Under Self Financing Scheme) -5. Of the seats, 4 will be allotted to eligible OPH candidates on horizontal reservation basis.
There are 50 seats at JIPMER Campus Karaikal (JCK), distributed as follows. Unreserved (UR) -15, Other Backward Classes (OBC)-10, Scheduled Caste (SC)-6, Scheduled Tribe (ST)-4, Puducherry -14 (P-UR-7, P-OBC-5 & P-SC-2), NRI / OCI (Under Self Financing Scheme) -1. From the above seats, 2 seats are allotted to eligible OPH candidates on horizontal reservation basis. Counselling and Allotment schedule is given in the Prospectus.
The Academic Fee per annum is Rs.1400/-. One time Admission fee of Rs.4000/-, has to be paid at the time of admission. Other fees include JIPMER Students Association Fee of Rs.2000/- per annum, Learning Resource Fee (p.a.) of Rs.2000/- and Corpus Fund on Academic Fee (p.a.) of Rs.70/-.
