MBBS admission at 2 SF MCs cancelled
Kochi: The Admission Supervisory Committee has today cancelled the admission made by Karuna Medical College and Kannur Medical College following non-compliance of ASC directives. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations has been authorised to admit students in a combined centralised manner, maintaining the Triple Tests laid down by the Supreme Court.
The Committee found that both the medical colleges had fully compromised the inter se merit, failed to maintain transparency and the academic excellence and deliberately given a go by to all norms of procedure. Stating that the medical colleges have no legal right to sustain MBBS admissions already made by them, the Committee said, "All the MBBS admissions so far made by Karuna Medical College and Kannur Medical College are hereby set aside."
As per the SC order, the right of MBBS admission 2016 after 28.09.2016 was given to the State, which will conduct a combined counselling to fill the vacant seats. The Registrar of the KUHS is directed to register the candidates admitted by the CEE only.
"All the applicants, who have applied before the Kannur Medical College and Karuna Medical College for MBBS admission or rejected by the medical colleges and those who are admitted, are entitled to appear for the Centralised counselling that will be notified by the Government of Kerala/CEE," the order stated.
The Supreme Court has extended the deadline for MBBS/BDS admission till 7 October 2016. The CEE will soon announce the date for the spot allotment for admitting students in these colleges.
