Kerala will open 5 new ITIs: Minister TP Ramakrishnan
Kochi: TP Ramakrishnan, Minister for Labour informed that 5 new ITIs will be established in the state.
He also added that government ITIs will be upgraded to international standards. He announced the good news while inaugurating the third phase construction of Aarakuzha Government ITI via online.
Third phase construction of the ITI at Aarakuzha is estimated to cost Rs 2.66 crore. Once the construction gets completed, three trades will be started in the ITI and training will be provided to 240 students.
The minister pointed out that industrial training will be given to people in rural areas. He noted that the government established 17 ITIs within 4 years.
At present, 22,000 students are taking admission in 99 government ITIs in the state every year.
The Industrial Training Department has also started various development programmes in connection with the 100 days’ action plans announced by the Chief Minister.
10 ITIs will be upgraded to international standards with financial aid from KIIFB. ITIs at Chakka in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode will be reformed with government fund.
With the completion of the project, these 12 ITIs will be regarded as the best industrial training centres in India.
