Kerala to decide on schools reopening next week
Thiruvananthapuram: The decision regarding reopening of schools in the state amid Covid pandemic is expected to come next week. The Director of General Education K Jeevan Babu would submit a report in this regard to the government.
The central government had said that schools can be reopened for students of Class 9 to 12 from September 21. The Ministry of Home Affairs had issued guidelines for Unlock 4 on 29 August, permitting partial reopening of schools from 21 September.
“Students of classes 9 to 12 may be permitted to visit their schools, in areas outside containment zones only, on a voluntary basis, for taking guidance from their teachers,” guidelines had said.
A detailed report regarding feasibility of reopening and how this has to be done would be submitted by Director of General Education.
